ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Job appointments for two veteran Onondaga County legislators have left vacancies to be filled. County Executive Joanie Mahoney has the job of naming successors for Democrat Mark Stanczyk and Republican Bill Meyer.

Mahoney will tap Republican Robert Andrews to succeed Stanczyk, who is in the middle of his 15th two-year term. The 40-year-old businessman ran unsuccessfully against the Democrat in 2011. He'll fill the seat on an interim basis until legislative elections this fall.

Mahoney will name former Cicero Town Supervisor Chet Dudzinski to fill Meyer's position, noting that Dudzinski says he will not seek a full term in the fall. Cicero and Manlius Democrats will meet to decide who they'll support in that contest.

Once the new lawmakers take their seats, the GOP majority in the 17-seat legislature will grow to 14.
