Gas prices continue to rise in the Southern Tier

SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. -- Gas prices continue to rise across the Southern Tier and the country.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular sits at $3.58 a gallon. That's up about seven cents from last week, when prices were around $3.51 nationally. Since last month, the average price has jumped 27 cents.

Across the state, the story is basically the same, though prices are even higher. The current average in New York is $3.93 a gallon. That's also up about seven cents since last week and about 27 cents since last month.

The Binghamton area is pretty close to the state average, at $3.91 a gallon.
