UTICA, N.Y. -- The importance of eating right and exercising was shared with children Sunday afternoon in Utica.

The "Kids Walk" at Mohawk Valley Community College brought youngsters together to celebrate healthy living. The event was hosted by the American Heart Association. Activities included a mile long walk, gymnastics and dancing.

Organizers say it's important to find fun ways to teach children about health issues.

Kids Walk Organizer Bre Giambrone said, "We're trying to educate them on healthy eating, stay active an hour a day at least, and try to at least learn healthy habits early on."

The American Heart Association will be holding their main Mohawk Valley event on March 2, the Utica Heart Run and Walk. It will feature several different races to raise money for the organization.
