SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse police have made an arrest in the city's latest homicide. Police say witnesses led them to Daquan Dowdell, 21.

Police say Dowdell, a known member of the 110 Gang, has a long criminal history in Syracuse with several previous arrests as a juvenile. He is facing multiple charges for last week's shooting that left one teen dead and another injured.

Dowdell is accused of shooting Jamal Holmes, 19, to death on Landon Avenue on February 4th. Another teen, Eric Hooks Jr., 17, was severely injured from multiple gunshot wounds, but is recovering.

Police say the motive is still unclear and they don't know if the victims were involved in gangs as well.

"Was this some type of a beef, or was there some type of a dispute prior to this? We just don't know that for sure yet and we're still working with our victims," said Syracuse Police Department Sgt. Tom Connellan.

Dowdell has been charged with murder and attempted murder, both in the second degree, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. He's being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
