Family of four loses home to fire
ROME, N.Y. -- A Rome family lost everything after their house caught fire Friday morning. Officials say the fire started just before 5 a.m. at a home on Lauther Road.
They say when crews got there, the fire had spread through a window and door and spread out down the porch. Firefighters say the home and everything inside was a total loss.
The family's dog died in the fire.
One adult and three kids were living in the home at the time, but it's unclear if they were home when the fire started.
Officials say a neighbor discovered the fire and called 911. The cause is still under investigation.
