CANTON, N.Y. -- The sound of electric razors filled the air as 15 St. Lawrence University students took part in a St. Baldrick's fundraiser Friday. The event was hosted by the St. Lawrence University Pre-Health Club.
Students from a range of majors and years got their heads shaved to raising money and awareness about childhood cancer. Each person had a different motivation for participating.
"My best friend Collin Dowd, used to have a cancerous cyst in his lung, and he went through all the treatment and everything and he ended up being fine. I'm doing it for awareness of cancer and hopefully more kids have his story," said Bobby Adam, SLU sophomore.
St. Baldrick's raised over $33 million in 2012, and have already raised over $3 million so far in 2013.
