OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Congressman Dan Maffei made a stop in Oswego to listen to local business owners about job creation.

The 24th District representative held a small business round table discussion at a local restaurant as part of a district-wide listening tour. Oswego was the fourth stop on his list.

Maffei says his goal is to work together to create more jobs and help the region's economy grow. He sat down with these business owners and leaders to listen to their ideas and discuss ways to expand small businesses and he said most of the themes he's heard so far are pretty similar.

"People need to find jobs. And there are jobs out there, but the work force isn't matching exactly where the job is. We need to work on training and that sort of thing. And then there are some access to capital problems. I mean, people may have a really good idea, but don't know where to go to try to get funding. And then people are very nervous still about the economy," Maffei said.

Maffei says even though the business owners he's talked to may have different questions and ideas, they all agree that Central New York's economy is reliant on getting people back to work.
