Stray dog found in extremely poor condition

CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A two-year-old dog was rescued in Cortland County after being found extremely thin with a severe wound to his back leg.

The stray dog, a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix, was found on Parks Road in the Town of Homer. A vet says the dog's leg will need to be amputated due to the severity of the wound.

The dog, who has been named "Champ," is being cared for by the Country Acres Animal Shelter. If you want to make a donation toward the care of Champ, visit the shelter's website.

If you have any information on Champ's owner or how he was injured, call the SPCA's Law Enforcement Department. That number is (607) 753-9386.
