SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Fire caused extensive damage to a home in Syracuse.

Crews were called to a home at Clover Street and South Avenue a little before 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Officials say one person was able to get out safely.

Firefighters say the flames were already pretty bad by the time they arrived.

"It was away from us before we got here. We were able to confine it within probably 15 to 20 minutes, get it under control," said Syracuse Fire Department Deputy Chief Bill Mitson.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
