More than two dozen arrested for copper theft

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- More than two dozen people were arrested in connection with copper thefts around the Broome County area.

State Police say they received a tip that a group of people were targeting the Greater Binghamton Health Center and the former IBM Heritage Building for copper pipe and electrical wiring.

As a result of a five month investigation, troopers were able to make 27 arrests. The majority of the suspects live in Binghamton and Johnson City.

Charges ranged from burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, trespass and resisting arrest.

One of the suspects charged with burglary was only 16 at the time of alleged crime.


    Arrested:
  • Christopher J. Peck, 20, of New Milford, PA. Peck was charged with attempted burglary in the third degree.

  • Deyquan M. Perry, 18, of Endicott, NY. Perry was charged with burglary in the third degree.
  • Nicholas R. Linsky, 19, of Binghamton, NY. Linsky was charged with burglary in the third degree.
  • Joshua F. Cope, 20, of Binghamton, NY. Cope was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.
  • Thomas M. Rigo III, 18, of Binghamton, NY. Rigo was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree.
  • Alfred G. Reynolds, 19, of Binghamton, NY. Reynolds was charged with burglary in the third degree.
  • Harry V. Reynolds Jr., 22, of Binghamton, NY. Reynolds was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree.
  • Jammy L. Copp, 36, Binghamton, NY. Copp was charged with burglary in the third degree and resisting arrest.
  • Deak A. Copp, 31, of Johnson City, NY. Copp was charged with burglary in the third degree.
  • Richard E. Copp III, 35, of Johnson City, NY. Copp was charged with burglary in the third degree.
  • Kayla J. Tompkins, 25, of Johnson City, NY. Tompkins was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.
  • Shane L. Lacey, 32, of Endicott, NY. Lacey was charged with burglary in the third degree.
  • Christopher Reynolds, 22, of Johnson City, NY. Reynolds was charged with burglary in the third degree.
