CANTON, N.Y. -- The St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees is moving forward with plans for a new residence hall. Current plans for the dorm include space for about 150 students.

Officials say a slight increase in enrollment over the past few years has caused the school to reconfigure some of its existing residence halls and the new space will help ease the burden. The project is expected to cost $12 million and will be paid for entirely by private donations.

"We want to make sure it fits in with the current architecture here at the university, so we're working very hard to make sure it fits the character of the surrounding buildings,” said Tom Evelyn, Vice President of Communications.

Construction on the project is scheduled to begin this spring, with a completion date set for fall of 2014.
