ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Central New York SPCA says it rescued nine horses Monday and plans to rescue five more.
Spokesperson Paul Morgan says cruelty investigators were called to Bailer Road in the Town of Onondaga. The property is owned by the Onondaga Nation, but the horses are not.
Investigators say the animals are very underweight and malnourished.
There were seven deceased horses on the property.
Vets are checking out the survivors.
So far, no charges have been issued.
