ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Central New York SPCA says one person will likely face numerous charges after authorities found seven dead horses on an Onondaga County farm.

Spokesperson Paul Morgan says cruelty investigators also found 14 emaciated horses on the farm located on Bailer Road in the Town of Onondaga. The property is owned by the Onondaga Nation, but the horses are not.

So far, nine horses were rescued and brought to another site where they are being cared for. The other five are being watched carefully and will be removed in a few days once the proper resources become available.

"Were dealing with people from the public that have experience that we've dealt with in the past. And it basically comes down to their availability. So with that in mind, we'll continue to feed the animals on the property, care for them and have a vet go out there and treat them there. But the overall goal is to get them out of that location," said Morgan.

Morgan says the name of the person responsible will not be identified until the investigation is complete. He says the Onondaga Nation has been very cooperative with the investigation.
