Shots fired during armed robbery at Citgo gas station

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Shots were fired during an armed robbery at a Syracuse gas station Wednesday afternoon.

Syracuse Police say just before 4 p.m., a man walked into the Citgo on the 1100 block of Erie Boulevard East and demanded money. The clerk pushed the suspect and told him he was going to call police. But as the suspect ran toward the door, he turned and fired a shot, missing the clerk.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 5-foot-6, 170 pounds. He's believed to be 45 to 50 years old, but had a black bandana over his face during the crime. He was also wearing a blue and white checkered shirt under a black coat, along with dark blue jeans and black shoes at the time. He was last seen running east on Erie Boulevard East.

Anyone with more information on the robbery is asked to contact Syracuse Police at (315) 442-5222. Calls will be kept confidential.
