HORSEHEADS, N.Y. -- A realty company has expanded housing in Horseheads and now they're opening the doors to their new apartment complex.

Arnot Realty is opening the first building of The Meadows. It's the newest addition to the Hickory Grove Apartments. Five buildings remain under construction, each containing eight apartments.

The realty company has been in Horseheads for about 14 years and is now looking to capitalize on the demand for more luxury apartments.

"So there's been a social shift making this more attractive, it has a great deal of broad breadth of appeal. Young professionals to families, as to this side of the road this is only phase one of three or four phases," said Skip Brand, Arnot Realty Corporation Chairman.

The apartments run anywhere from $1,100 to $1,500 a month.

The other buildings are expected to be open by the end of August.
