Binghamton St. Patrick’s parade draws big crowds
It may have been cold and snowy in Binghamton Saturday, but that didn't stop crowds of people from having a good time at the 46th Annual St. Patrick's Parade. Our Elyse Mickalonis caught up with crowds in Binghamton, who said braving the cold weather was well worth it.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- It's the biggest day to celebrate the luck of the Irish in Binghamton.
"It's a great day for college students and a lot of people that love not just Binghamton, but St. Patrick's Day as well,” said Lauren Crandall, Newark Valley Resident.
Thousands of people gathered for the 46th annual St. Patrick's parade in Binghamton. People lined up from Court to Main Street hoping to get close to the pipe bands, dancing and more.
"There's a lot of candy throwing, so you have to watch out for that; and, there's people wearing different outfits,” said Jenna Yezzi, Binghamton Resident.
Colin Crooks, Syracuse Resident, added, "Look like a leprechaun as much as possible. Just wear green; this is all I had, whatever was in my closet that was green."
Harper Horton, Owego Resident, said, "It's all part of the fun. People go down to Mardi Gras and you've got the ridiculous French corridor masks and beads and everything. But around here, we've got parade day; and, you just do it up in all the green that you can."
This year’s weather was a polar opposite of last years, with low temps and even some snow.
"It's Binghamton, you know what's it's going to be like. It's a cloudy city, but we're going to make the best of it,” said Crooks.
Crandall added, "Today is freezing, but everyone seems to be in the spirit of parade day. Everyone gets excited for it."
Horton said, "My favorite is all the dudes running around in kilts and know they're freezing, but they do it. They're committed."
Doing whatever it takes to enjoy the biggest party day in Binghamton.
