Outdoor enthusiasts head to first annual Twin Tiers Outdoor Expo
A new exhibit is sparking more interest in a non-traditional type of hunting. The first annual Twin Tiers Outdoor Expo kicked off Saturday in Elmira. As YNN’s Crystal Cranmore tells us it was a celebration of the great outdoors.

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Hundreds of people flocked to First Arena to learn more about hunting. One of the attractions that garnered plenty of attention was the raptor exhibit.
Children got a first-hand look at the birds and how they are increasingly used for hunting. Troy Burrous was one of the volunteers.
“I learned that you have to feed hawks raw meat,” said Burrous.
I enjoyed looking at the birds up close, because you see them out in the wild, but you never get that close, personal look at them,” said June Ramsey, a visitor.
In the sport of falconry, the bird is the weapon, and they catch all types of small game including rabbits, squirrels and ducks.
Whether you are into fishing, falconry or archery, there was something at the Expo for everyone. Visitors lined up to purchase fishing rods, ATVs, and bows.
“In this area, there a lot of people who are interested. You can just tell by the number of vendors who are participating. There is clearly a market place for it,” said First Arena General Manager Matt Hufnagel.
Sunday is the last day of the Expo.
