SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- One Syracuse lawmaker is starting to get his name out there before the next election this fall. Common Council President Van Robinson announced his bid for reelection.
He began his first full term as president in 2010 following a partial term. He worked as a Common Councilor for 10 years before that. Robinson wants the council to sit down with county officials to discuss consolidating some services if he's reelected.
"Where there's a dual, shared responsibility, we can get more efficiency out of the government, and eventually -- eventually, there will be a savings," said Van Robinson, Syracuse Common Council President.
Robinson said this could help the city achieve fiscal stability once again. He says that will be one of Syracuse's biggest challenges during the next decade.
