CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Investigators said a drunk driver caused a serious accident in the Town of Cortlandville Sunday.

Cortland County sheriff's deputies said it happened around 5:15 in the morning on McLean road.

According to deputies, Justin Wittko, 25, crossed into the oncoming lane and hit another vehicle.

He is facing several charges including vehicular assault, aggravated DWI and speeding.

Eric Allen, 36 from Blodgett Mills, was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with severe internal injuries.

Investigators said additional charges are pending in the case.
