CHITTENANGO, N.Y. -- A police chase ended with a crash in Madison County Sunday afternoon. The incident started with an alleged theft at the Rite-Aid in Canastota. When the suspect drove through the nearby village of Chittenango, an officer recognized the car and tried to pull the driver over.
The suspect sped away instead. Investigators said the car went too fast around a curve on Tuscarora Road. The vehicle ended up rolling over, and it came to rest upside down.
When Chittenango officers tried to get the suspect out of the car, the man tried to fight with officers. He was eventually taken to a Syracuse hospital for evaluation. The suspect's name has not been released yet.
