STATEWIDE -- Thirty SUNY schools begin competing against each other Monday, for the first ever "SUNY Mascot Madness."

From now through April fourth, SUNY school mascots will go up against each other in a bracket-style competition, much like the NCAA basketball tournament.

The contest represents several schools in our area including Herkimer County Community College’s General Herkimer mascot. Herkimer is the number ten seed competing against SUNY IT in the first round.

Cortland is a top seed, receiving a first-round bye.

Seed rankings are based on the number of teams that a particular campus represents.

Voting is done through social media. All you have to do is follow SUNY on Twitter or 'like' the page on Facebook.
