NEW YORK -- Local New York State Electric and Gas customers will see their electricity bills go up to help the company keep the lights on at an upstate power plant.
The added fee will cover operating costs for the Cayuga Generating Facility.
The Tompkins County plant was set to shut down in January, but a deal with NYSEG will keep it running another year.
Residential customers are expected to see an increase of around a dollar a month.
