CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- As prosecutors continued testimony Monday in the Keith Pottorff murder trial, the focus turned to a possible motive.
Pottorff has been charged with strangling his wife, Janet, and leaving her body in a shed near the couple's home. Prosecutors say Keith killed his wife and then used her money to go on a drug binge.
On Monday, jurors watched surveillance footage of Keith Pottorff at several gas stations and stores. They also heard testimony from a New York State Forensics Investigator who described contents he found in a backpack belonging to him. Inside, the investigator said he found a jewelry box with two pairs of earrings and two rings, including an engagement ring.
Testimony will continue Tuesday.
If convicted, Pottorff could face 25 years to life in prison.
