UTICA, N.Y. -- A bus driver in Utica is accused of sexually assaulting a child on his school bus.

Oneida County Sheriff's deputies arrested Abubakar Bahoro following an investigation into an incident that happened earlier this week on board the Birnie Bus he was driving.

Authorities said he was taking students in Utica home from an after school program and was talking with the victim prior to the sexual assault taking place.

Bahoro is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, but deputies believe there may have been more than one incident where there was inappropriate contact with the child, who is under the age of 13.

He was arraigned in Utica City Court and sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility on $20,000 bail.

The victim has been offered counseling services through the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
