ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Autopsy results reveal the death of a Clarkson University student whose body was found in the Raquette River last October, was an accidental drowning.
Search crews discovered the body of Shanith Samarasekera, 20, of Las Vegas, in the river on October 21st after reports came in that a pedestrian had been hit by a train on a bridge just off of Sandstone Drive.
The autopsy revealed that the cause of death was drowning. It also showed that the victim had a blood alcohol level of .27 and had trace amounts of marijuana in his system.
A small memorial still sits at the site of the accident.
