CORNING, N.Y. -- The ribbon has been cut, introducing a whole new experience.
"It's like, come, have fun, have a drink, let's paint," said Kylene Kiah, Wine and Design, owner.
All of that is included when you visit Wine and Design on historic Market Street. It's a franchise that began in 2010 in North Carolina then expanded to South Carolina and Virginia.
"The nice thing about this type of business is that it is unique. It just brings another opportunity for people to come to the area for another reason," said Jerry Sleve, Corning Chamber of Commerce, board of directors.
This is the first Wine and Design in the Northeast. The 'catchy' concept allows visitors to learn how to paint a featured picture each night, while enjoying bring-your-own snacks and beverages.
"The owners, they're best friends, and they knew there was something that people could be doing at night to have fun that wasn't just eating and you know, having drinks with friends. So they started a private painting party concept and it's just exploded since then," said Kiah.
So, what brought such a one of a kind, unique business like Wine and Design to the Gaffer District? Well, it's the growing reputation that Market Street has.
"We have so many different opportunities, there's lots of storefronts. So, there's always room for one more business, one more unique business, and the owner is from the area. So, it's just a nice way to fit in the community and get them to participate," said Sleve.
"The community, everyone works together, and the art, Corning Glass, there's just a lot of people come here. And, I think this is a different experience and it just adds to it," said Kiah.
Wine and Design joins more than 200 storefronts that line the street and offers the one stop shop that allows you to pour a glass and connect with your 'artsy' side.
