WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Children in a Watertown daycare center got a visit from a special storyteller Monday.

Congressman Bill Owens stopped by Benchmark Family Services on Ohio Street to tour the facility and read Dr. Seuss tales to children.

Benchmark cares for just fewer than 60 children: Eight infants, 12 toddlers and 37 preschoolers.

Congressman Owens acknowledges the importance of having these facilities for working parents.

“This is important for the young kids to get off to a good start. So I wanted to come and see how the program was doing, had a great opportunity to read to these little guys and they seemed very receptive. So, it was a nice way to start the day, if you will,” said Rep. Bill Owens.

Owens then met with a joint school board meeting for Jefferson and Lewis County schools and then visited a Lewis County business that makes baseball bats.
