CARTHAGE, N.Y. -- Budget cuts were not on the agenda Monday night at Carthage High School. Members of the community addressed the board of education about the importance of sports in high school, as the athletics portion of the budget was unveiled.
Instead of cuts, Athletic Director Stephen Nolan is requesting that some programs actually be reinstated.
"The numbers that I proposed are very frugal and from what I understand under what was proposed in the past. So I think the board was receptive to brining back some of those positions," said Stephen Nolan, Athletics Director.
"People were coming tonight because they thought they were going to hear about these alleged huge cuts in the athletic program and at this point there are no huge cuts proposed," said Superintendent Peter Turner.
Some of the programs that would be reinstated are wrestling, golf, lacrosse and cheerleading.
