Voters in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District will head to the polls today to vote on facility upgrades. A $10.5 million capital project includes replacing the roofs on four school buildings and heating and ventilation upgrades at Mott Road Elementary. FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. -- Voters in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District will head to the polls today to vote on facility upgrades.

Officials say approving the project will have no impact on the local tax rate. The project includes roof replacements along with heating and ventilation upgrades at Mott Road Elementary School. In addition, three facilities including the high school, Eagle Hill Middle School and Enders Road Elementary School, will all receive roof replacements. The district also wants to add bleachers at the district's main athletic field next to the high school.

School officials say the roof replacements particularly are very important.

Fayetteville-Manlius Assistant Business Superintendent Mike Vespi said, "We'd like to replace those roofs, put them back on warranty, and that way that cuts down the maintenance expenses that would be associated with the roofs. After a 20-year period, they start to leak. And they're covered under the warranty now but won't be in the future."

The polls are open until 9 p.m. at Fayetteville Elementary School.
