JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A tip from a student leads to a locker search at Carthage Middle School and the discovery of what's called an airsoft gun.
Carthage School Superintendent Peter Turner said a student reported what he thought he saw to a teacher. From there, administrators were informed and a locker search was immediately conducted. The airsoft gun was found in a book bag.
In a statement, the superintendent said the district has "zero tolerance for any dangers that potentially endanger or interfere with the safety of all students and staff. Students who bring such items to school will be disciplined according to the school's district policies."
The name and age of the student who brought the gun to school have not been released.
