SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Spring is right around the corner, and Syracuse officials want to make sure the city looks its best as the warmer seasons approach us. April 13th will be Clean Up Cuse Day.

Mayor Stephanie Miner is asking residents to begin the spring cleaning process now, after an increase in trash and littering in the city.

Mayor Miner said she knows a lot of residents take the effort to clean up year round, but she hopes more will make it a priority this year.

She said, "We have lots of neighbors who do that as a standard part of their day, walking around and cleaning up trash, and, again, now that the snow is gone it's exposing more trash and we're asking everybody to help celebrate Spring by helping pick up and cleaning up."

Miner said the goal is to get at least 1,000 volunteers for the project.
