BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Several arts organizations in Broome County are getting a financial boost. The Broome County Arts Council awarded more than $228,000 in United Cultural Fund grants Wednesday.
General operating grants were given to seven organizations, including the Tri-Cities Opera, the Roberson Museum and Science Center and the Endicott Performing Arts Center. Some of the money was also allocated to 14 other nonprofit organizations and individual artists in the form of project grants.
Money for the grants was donated from the county, businesses and organizations. Some recipients of the grants say the money will be helpful.
"It allows us to help continue to provide top quality performing arts events, as well as education for our young people and people of all ages in the community. So we're really grateful to the Broome County Arts Council for administering this fund," said Lou Ligouri, Endicott Performing Arts Center Executive Director.
