CLAY, N.Y. -- A Town of Clay man is behind bars for a Sunoco gas station robbery over the weekend. Nicholas D'Arrigo, 29, was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Police credit an attentive gas station attendant at a nearby Citgo for recognizing D'Arrigo from surveillance photos and calling authorities.
D'Arrigo is accused of robbing a Sunoco in Clay on Sunday morning and assaulting an employee in the process. Officials say he fought the store clerk before getting away with an unknown amount of cash.
D'Arrigo is charged with second degree robbery and third degree assault. He's being held at the Justice Center on $10,000 cash bail, and is due back in court next Tuesday.
