HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The healing process continues in the villages of Herkimer and Mohawk, following two days of violence.

The violence started when Kurt Myers shot six people, killing four and seriously injuring two others. Police continue to investigate the shootings that are still fresh in the minds of the community.

Officials say they want the community to know that resources are available to those who are trying to cope with this week's events.

"I think you establish normalcy by being as normal as you can, remaining calm and just trying to be available for anyone in the community who feels they may need to talk, to let them know our resources are available,” Herkimer Mayor Mark Ainsworth said.

"Children, for instance, may have reactions afterwards in terms of having some feelings, some anxieties and insecurities and may need someone to talk to and the mobile crisis assessment team could be an important resource for parents and for schools," said Frank Tocco, Neighborhood Center Operations Director.

The Neighborhood Center Operations is available for community members to call and ask any questions they might have.
