ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The West Genesee High School varsity cheerleaders are celebrating their first state championship after winning first place in the New York State invitational last weekend.

The squad traveled to Rochester to compete against seven other teams. They returned Thursday and we caught up with them as they posed for their team pictures.

"With all of our hard work and dedication, it truly did pay off this weekend. It felt amazing to become state champions," captain Morgan Conley said.

The team is also coming off of back to back sectional titles from this past fall and winter.
