SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The No. 11 Syracuse men's lacrosse team led No. 4 Johns Hopkins 6-1 after the first quarter and held on from there to beat the Blue Jays 13-8 at the Carrier Dome.

Scott Loy had a hat trick and Henry Schoonmaker and Hakeem Lecky each scored twice for the Orange, which has won four games in a row after dropping its season-opener.

After the first quarter Johns Hopkins scored five goals in the second to get within 8-6 at halftime, prompting SU to pull goalie Bobby Wardwell and put in Dominic Lamolinara. Lamolinara responded with five saves on seven shots and head coach John Desko says the coaching staff will play the hot hand going forward which could include playing both goalies in the same game as the team did for several games last year until Wardwell took over.
