CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Twin Tiers affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure held its second annual Passion to Action rally at Arnot Mall Saturday afternoon.
This weekend’s rally encouraged people to register for the Elmira Race for the Cure, and get involved in the fight against breast cancer.
Each year, the organization donates 75 percent of its proceeds to nonprofit organizations that provide breast cancer screenings and treatments. The rest of the proceeds go to breast cancer research.
“The funds we raise on race day are used to help women and men with breast cancer right here at home, in our region. This year, we have donated $150,000 to breast care initiatives,” said Ann Campbell, Susan G. Komen For The Cure, Twin Tiers Region.
Thousands run in the race each year. This weekend, people can register at a discounted price of $15. The Race for the Cure is on May 19th.
