TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A convicted sex offender who cut off his tracking bracelet near a Tompkins County school has been arrested in the Mid-West. Authorities say they located Shane Jacobs, 30, of Hector in South Dakota.
The search for Jacobs began last Monday when he cut off his tracking bracelet near a school in the Trumansburg Central School District. The school had to go on lockdown as a result.
Jacobs was convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2001.
