Cortland police officer accused of DWI

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- A Cortland police officer was arrested after an accident investigation revealed he was driving drunk.

It all started Sunday night when Cortland Police say Officer Patrick O'Donnell, 28, ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Floral Avenue and West Main Street. O'Donnell then went off the road, driving through a fence and bushes, hitting a car and a porch at one point.

He is now facing two misdemeanor DWI charges and a slew of traffic tickets. The Cortland Police Department refused to comment on his employment status.
