SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A local tax preparer is being investigated by the state Attorney General. Eric Schneiderman's office sent a cease and desist letter to Danny Duc T. Tran. He operates Tax Affairs, located on Butternut Street in Syracuse.

The AG's office says Tran is overcharging customers, quoting them one price, and electronically deducting hundreds more from the refund after the fact. In addition, the Attorney General says all consumers were billed a $35 refund transfer fee for the IRS to deposit their refund into a temporary bank account created for this tax season.

Tran referred YNN to his attorney for any comment. We have not yet heard back.
