A shining star that can be found in the heart of New York is getting extra help thanks to a new program pushed by Governor Andrew Cuomo. The Finger Lakes offer hundreds of wineries, a centerpiece for Upstate New York tourism. As YNN's Katie Husband tells us this new feature can help businesses grow.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- Paperwork, the necessary, but boring, work on a vineyard. Especially when you can't get answers.

"And you call and then you have to ask someone else or they have to leave the message for the person who is really the expert in that area," said Elizabeth Stamp, Lakewood Vineyards, sales marketing partner.

And it stalls progress.

"It gets dragged on for days or weeks as we try to get the answers and be sure we're filling things out correctly," said Stamp.

That's certainly not ideal when managing a small business. But now, with Governor Andrew Cuomo's one stop shop, it gives management one place to call. Answers for anything from applications, licensing and state incentives. It's encouraging the Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards to continue its expansion.

"Right now, we are a wholesaler and a distributor and cider manufacturer, but we're also looking to add beer and distilling licenses to our license here in Naples," said Megan Volhejn, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, senior marketing manager.

The program has already been tested and approved by neighboring Lakewood Vineyards.

"And he had some questions on licensing for a particular type of beverage and they were addressed in the one stop shop, so he's used it already," said Stamp.

Vineyard managers feel Governor Cuomo recognizes the continued growth of the Finger Lakes region and this is just another way to help them do business efficiently and within the guidelines.

"Which we all strive to do, but the same time, not have to always feel like we're stalling out as far as our business moving forward just to fill out forms and jump through hoops," said Stamp.

"All of these people that are new to the industry, opening up this center is a great benefit to all these people who are fresh to these cumbersome laws," said Volhejn.

Having that one stop shop never felt so good for business owners.
