AUBURN, N.Y. -- A prayer service for an Auburn baby dealing with a painful skin condition brought both tears and hope to a loving community.

Baby Easton Friedel was born with Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB, which causes the skin to blister or be missing from some areas entirely.

A prayer service was held at the Lake Church on East Genesee Street Thursday evening to bring hope to Easton and his family.

The seven-month-old is currently at the hospital in critical condition with a bacterial and viral infection in his lungs.

Easton's grandfather says that although these are trying times, it's reassuring knowing how much love the community, both near and far, has for Easton.

"And to see just one little child, that nobody knew seven months ago, has brought thousands of people together, on a daily basis, not a weekly, but a daily and hourly basis," said John Friedel, Easton’s grandfather.

The prayer service was also broadcast online for national supporters who were unable to attend.
