CHITTENANGO, N.Y. -- Fire damaged an auto shop in Chittenango. Crews were called to Burgun Automotive on Genesee Street early Friday afternoon for a reported car fire.

The business is right near the fire station, and firefighters were able to get there quickly, but the flames were already heavy when they arrived. They were forced to attack the fire from the outside because of a number of combustible and flammable items inside the shop.

"Lubricants, of course the car itself, storage in there became a problem on the second floor. The car was immediately adjacent to a staircase which leads to a storage area overhead where they stock tires, and that's again just another fuel source for the fire," said Mike Sudol, Chittenango Fire Chief.

No one was hurt in the fire. The exact cause is still under investigation.
