Cargill instituting temporary layoffs
TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. -- It may not have been as extreme as last winter, but the lack of snow this winter is being blamed for a number of layoffs in Tompkins County. Cargill notified 130 employees at its Lansing salt mine that they will be temporarily laid off.
Those layoffs are expected to last most of the summer. They begin June 10th and end August 8th.
