Students return to school
Schools are back in session for most Central New York students. There are some steps parents can take to help make the first week go smoothly.
If your child isn't registered, they can still start today but you'll need to have some documents with you. Bring the child's birth certificate, their shot record and proof of residency. Review safety procedures for getting on and off the bus, crossing the street, and dealing with strangers if your child has to walk to school. Finally, make sure you update emergency contact information with the school office.
"We would need to know the name of the person either the parent or family member who would be responsible in the event that the child needed to be pickup during the school day or if school were to be dismissed for some reason. We would need to know emergency phone numbers in case of illness or any reason that we would need to get in touch with a parent or guardian during the day," said Superintendent Dr. Donna DeSiato.

Keep an I.D. with your child in case they get lost or need help quickly. It should have your child's name, address, and a phone number where you can be reached.
