Pittsfield Snow Emergency
After just two inches of snow in Pittsfield, Thursday, the Commissioner of Public Works declared a snow emergency early Thursday afternoon.
It will remain in effect until noon on Saturday. 93 cars were towed on Thursday night because they were left on the streets.
The Pittsfield Police Captain warned area residents of likely snowfalls to come.
Captain John O'Neil of the Pittsfield Police Department said, "Common sense tells them that if its snowing out, they'll probably declare a snow emergency and they should get their cars off the street."
For the remainder of this particular snow emergency, no vehicle is permitted to park or stand unattended on any open municipal parking lot between 12:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Lots will be plowed and sanded during this time Vehicles in violation of these new rules will be towed by the city at their own expense.
