A national cable and wire manufacturer plans to close its plant in Essex Junction, Vermont.

About 150 people work at Belden CDT Incorporated's Vermont facility. Company spokeswoman Dee Johnson said there will be few or no opportunities for employees to relocate.

Belden plans to transfer equipment from the plant to other locations in October and close the factory by early 2005.

Company officials said closing the plant, as well as a Connecticut distribution center, will help save money.
