The ECAC hockey championships are being held at the Pepsi Arena this weekend. Former Union head coach Kevin Sneddon never made it to Final Four during his five years with the Dutchmen, but in his second year with the Vermont Catamounts, his team advanced to the playoffs.
The Catamounts fell to Cornell in the semifinals Friday at the Pepsi Arena. The two teams met twice during regular season play. They tied in Vermont, and the Big Red took their home game 2-1.
Prior to the game, Sneddon said, "We had a great series last weekend against Dartmouth, they are a fantastic hockey club. Coach Gaudet did a great job, as did his players. I think that experience that we gained from that series is going to be very important this weekend."
David McKee stopped 25 shots for the Big Red to record his ECAC record tenth shutout of the season. Cornell recorded a 3-0 win, with Topher Scott, Matt Moulson and Chris Abbott scoring. Cornell will advance to their 17th ECAC championship game, and fourth in five years. Cornell will play Saturday against the winner of the Harvard-Colgate semifinal game.

Sophomore, McKee has 15 career shutouts, already breaking the school record of 13, set by former Montreal Canadiens' great Ken Dryden in the late 1960's.
Cornell goalie David McKee said, "I was expecting a lot of shots. Not a lot of them were very good quality, so my guys did a good job of keeping them on the outside so it was a pretty good night for the whole team."
Vermont head coach Kevin Sneddon said, "A lot of people say that Cornell's system makes goaltenders look good, but I think tonight we had some great scoring opportunities and he came up big."
