Assembly returns to override vetoes
The State Assembly returns to Albany today.
They are expected to override vetoes that Governor Pataki made in the state budget.
The Assembly can attempt overrides only of vetoes in the two spending bills it approved when the
Legislature adopted a budget.
90 of Pataki's 195 vetoes were contained in those two bills.
State Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli, said drastic cuts will have to be made if the money isn't put back.

"It's going to have an impact on our education system, our social services that are being delivered, some of the county government programs will be affected. So it's very important that these monies be put back into the budget and that's what we're going back to Albany for."
Magnarelli said he's hopeful the State Senate will coincide with the Assembly, but they probably won't go back to Albany until November.
Pataki vetoed $235 million in spending in the budget and $1.6 billion dollars in long term borrowing.
He said the state can't afford the additional spending.
