Authorities checking DNA of body found in Texas

GALVESTON, TX. -- Authorities in Galveston County Texas will compare DNA to determine whether or not the remains of a young girl are that of a missing Central New York child.

Deonna Shipman, 4, of Liverpool was last seen over the summer.

Authorities believe her father, Jeffery Shipman, kidnapped the child.

At the end of October a fisherman in Galveston, Texas discovered the body of a young girl inside a storage box.

Police are calling her "Baby Grace."

Deonna Shipman has similarities to Baby Grace.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's department says DNA from Deonna's mother will be used to compare it to that of the remains.

They say this is a standard procedure for any missing child matching the description.

Investigators here in Central New York believe Jeffery Shipman took his daughter out of the country.

Back in July, they were able to track the two on two separate flights to two different countries.
